Mind the Product is the most important community for anyone in product, including PLG marketers, product managers, UX designers, or SaaS engineers.
It provides a lot of free resources for product teams, including articles, podcasts, Slack communities, and even courses. But when it comes to its annual conferences, it might become expensive and inaccessible for some people (unlike other events such as Product Drive).
So let’s dive into the whole MTP ecosystem to see how you can get the best out of it:

What is Mind the Product?
Mind the Product (MTP) is the most active community for product people.
It started small in 2010 with a single meetup in a London pub. The idea was to bring product managers together to connect, share, learn, and collectively advance the field of product management.
This community grew up fast, and now it’s a great example of how to sustain a successful product community. All of its resources can guide the growth strategy of anyone working at a product-led company, including product managers, executives, marketers, engineers, and designers.
What’s inside the Mind the Product ecosystem?
Mind the Product has grown a lot since its inception. Now, more than just meetups, it has an entire ecosystem of content, providing articles, events, products, and communities to engage with.
Its most prevalent aspects include:
- Annual conferences: MTP hosts both #mtpcon and INDUSTRY in London and the US, respectively. They invite the most famous people in the product industry, such as Marty Cagan or Dan Olsen (funny note: even Dwight Schrute from The Office).
- Local meetups: The ProductTank meetups are now a globally available event that you can attend in your closest city. It’s now hosted in around 200+ cities throughout the world.
- Resource hubs: MTP has articles, videos, podcasts, and a weekly newsletter on product management topics. The podcast also brings top product minds as guests for deep conversations.
- Skill learning: MTP offers many free certifications in product management in collaboration with Pendo. Additionally, your company can hire the MTP team to train your employees in product management best practices.
- Slack community: There’s a Slack community where you can interact and network with other product professionals. You can ask for advice, get feedback, share content, and even find jobs.
Note: MTP was acquired by Pendo in 2022. However, the company itself doesn’t seem to get very involved beyond sponsoring MTP’s content and events.
Mind the Product’s annual conference
The first MTP conference was in London back in 2012, with Marty Cagan as one of the speakers, gaining more and more traction over time. And although it was acquired by Pendo in 2022, the same team is still running the events (except co-founder James Mayes, who stepped back from the CEO seat).
Today, MTP conferences are hosted in two places. One as #mtpcon in London during spring and the other as INDUSTRY in the US during Autumn. Each conference is typically a one-day core event, plus a day of optional workshops and a leadership forum for senior product leaders.
Over the years, the stage has hosted product leaders from Slack, Silicon Valley Product Group (SVPG), the Financial Times, Walmart, Booking.com, YouTube, and more. There are talks on everything from cutting-edge tech (AI, machine learning, data analytics) to UX design, product ethics, strategy, and leadership.
Some notable talks include Marty Cagan’s speech about building products customers love, Ken Norton’s note on making yourself uncomfortable by embracing risks, and Tim Harford’s lessons on learning from mistakes. What’s better, these talks are recorded and published for free on MTP’s YouTube channel, meaning you can still catch up on sessions you missed and share your favorites with your team.
How much does Mind the Product cost?
Entrance for these conferences can cost between £849-£1,649, depending on how soon you buy it and the bundle you choose. There’s also a forum for Product leaders for £699.
Whether it’s worth the price or not depends on your budget and how much you value the in-person experience for networking. Many people also need to travel in order to attend, making it more expensive.
On the other hand, if your company can sponsor your ticket to the event, then there’s no downside to attending. Also, remember that all the talks are published later on YouTube, which means you don’t have to worry about missing out on content. The point of attending these conferences is mainly for networking or getting access to the workshops.
Is there a better alternative to Mind the Product?
Mind the Product’s conferences are great. But as I mentioned, they can be expensive (especially if they require traveling).
Another excellent conference you can attend is the Product Drive summit organized by Userpilot. It’s virtual and free, meaning you can get the same value from anywhere in the world and without paying a dime.
The guests are also as good as MTP’s. For instance, this year’s summit includes some exciting talks, such as:
- Maja Voje on how to leverage AI agents for your GTM strategy.
- Andrea Saez from Turtl explaining why you can’t vibe-code your way to product-market fit (and what to do instead.)
- Yazan Sehwail (Userpilot’s CEO), who’ll show how to use AI “growth agents” to detect friction automatically and orchestrate multi-channel engagement.
Seats are limited to 500 spots, meaning you have to reserve your spot early if you want to attend live. This keeps the event more intimate, allowing you to actually interact with the speakers during their talks and have more chances to ask questions.
Mind the Product’s resource hub for product-led growth
Besides hosting conferences, MTP also offers a lot of free content for product people on its different platforms. It covers all topics around PLG, such as improving product experience and leveraging product analytics, as well as more in-depth expert-led content like building sustainable products based on Laura Crawford’s insights.
All these resources include:
- Articles: MTP’s editorial team publishes articles throughout the week. These articles are only written by product experts, with a focus on sharing their personal experiences and insights.
- Videos: You can find MTP’s video content on their website or YouTube channel. These include their conference talks, podcast episodes, webinars, as well as some speeches from ProductTank meetups.
- “The Product Experience” Podcast: MTP’s weekly podcast, where hosts Lily Smith and Randy Silver interview top product minds around the world. They talk about very specific topics such as retention strategies for single-use products, embracing the uncertain future of products, or influencing your company’s board.
- “Prioritised” Weekly newsletter: MTP’s weekly newsletter (called “Prioritised”) is an excellent digest of the latest news in product management. It often highlights top new articles, upcoming events or workshops, and interesting discussions from the community.
Mind the Product’s platform for structured learning
Beyond the diverse content formats in the MTP platforms, formal training is also available. It includes both basic courses for beginners, as well as advanced training for seasoned PMs.
MTP has three main platforms for structured training:
- Free courses: In collaboration with Pendo, MTP offers free certification courses for product management. These courses include PM fundamentals, product analytics, AI, digital adoption, product discovery, product thinking, and PLG strategies.
- Team training: MTP has personalized training programs for your in-house product team. This involves a coach team who guides your employees to build skills, adopt the latest best practices, and track the right metrics for your business. It also includes courses on product management foundations, proper communication strategies, key metrics, and AI frameworks.
- Workshops: MTP hosts multiple expert-led workshops led during the #mtpcon and INDUSTRY conferences. These involve exercises, Q&A with experts, and actionable tips for your current challenges.
Mind the Product as an engaged product community for strategic product people network
Another perk of Mind the Product is its community. Besides being a community that attracts the most famous experts in the industry, it’s also a place where you can connect with people who share your problems, aspirations, and knowledge.
You can get advice from more seasoned people, discuss ideas, and even find job opportunities in the process.
In MTP, there are many places where you can engage with the community, and those are:
- Slack channel: The main hub to start engaging with the community is through MTP’s Slack channel. It has more than 60,000 members, making it a great place to seek advice, share content, and even find jobs (Note: As of September 2025, the link to get an invitation to the Slack channel is broken. You might need to get an invitation from someone else).
- Local ProductTank meetups: Today, MTP supports ProductTank meetups in around 200 cities. These are hosted by local volunteers from the community, so there’s a high chance you can attend one of these in a nearby city. There are always presentations from the local hosts and endless opportunities to meet product peers in your area.
- Leadership forums: During the annual conference, MTP hosts an exclusive forum for product leaders. If you lead a product team, this is a great opportunity to check what other leaders are doing, share insights, and connect with potential partners.
- Annual conferences: Even if you’re not a director of product, you can still attend the main conference to build your network.
Loved MTP? Save your spot for Product Drive
As I’ve explained, Mind the Product is an excellent community to build a network and product career.
However, whether you can attend their conferences or not, you should explore more communities and events to stay on top of your game. With Product Drive, for example, you don’t have to spend money and take time off to travel, meaning there’s no downside to engaging with it.
The Product Drive summit starts on October 7 and only has 500 seats. So if you want to join us, register for Product Drive right now to secure your place.
